In Praise of the FIfth Amendment - Why You Shouldn't Talk to the Police

This video has two parts. The first part features the fasting-talking (I mean really fast) Professor James Duane who explains the 5th Amendment. He argues for why you shouldn't talk to the Police. The second part of the video (don't give up just because it is 47 minutes long) is Police Officer George Bruch's description of the techniques he uses to get people to confess even after he has explained your Miranda rights (the right to remain silent). He agrees with the Professor Duane that no good will come if you talk to the police. This is for all you folks with a heavy hand on the throttle...

Thanks to my friend Alan Pagliere for this link.

Enjoy!

Grocery Shopping

"Whaddaya ridin'?" asks the guy who is scanning my groceries.
"BMW GS", I reply.
No flash of recognition, he's just reacting to my cordura jacket and leather pants.
"How fast is it?" His curiosity is genuine.
"Itsa whole lot faster than I'll ever ride it", I admit.
Silence. He pauses, the almond milk container is suspended mid swipe over the barcode reader. He looks me in the eye and he gets it that I'm serious. And here comes the grin, both from the cashier and the guy bagging my purchases in a blue canvas Yamaha tote bag (swag from Rich Oliver's Mystery School) - they know I'm telling the truth. For a moment the separation between customer and service provider dissolves, and we're just three people laughing and sharing a moment.
