About    BALSAMFIR

Why is your domain named "balsamfir"?  The name "balsamfir" comes from the balsamea tree. The resin from this tree can be made into an aromatic which I find very useful for relieving headaches. I needed a domain name and was gazing out the window, hoping something would come to me. I noticed the bottle of aromatherapy balsamfir essential oil and relieved the domain name headache.

I started riding motorcycles in January, 2002. The first bike, a Suzuki GZ-250, took me from terrified to a BMW F650CS six months later. Unable to stand the sound of a single cylinder trying to keep up with an inline four, I sold the CS and bought a Triumph SprintST 955. The SprintST kept up nicely with my husband's VFR as we rode across the US. After a sad accident (paying my dues as a new rider) I replaced the poor Sprint with the wonderful BMW 1200 GS. Cecilie's Moto Journal started off as a way to amuse family and friends. The journal took on a life of its own - I never thought I would still be writing it, but it gives me a way to share news, silly and interesting, with my readers. Several women have written to me to let me know that they have started riding after reading my journal, and that is most gratifying of all.

The business model essay (I’ve been told it’s more of a tirade) is for anyone with an interest in business models to read and use as long as you credit me as the source.

BA Times published the 2009 series of "Bad Ass Business Analyst" articles. I'm grateful to Adam Kahn for giving me a forum to say what needs to be said. I have made the text available here as well to make it easier to share the information.

The information is maintained by yours truly
