I'm working too much. The only riding I'm doing is too and from work, and an occasional trip across the bay bridge to see friends. My friend Karolyn asked me to participate in her "women-riders at the track" event in June, which turns out to be the same weekend that River City Beemers is doing their annual skills improvement at at Thunderhill. A year ago I would have looked at this as an opportunity to spend the weekend riding the GS on the track, and would have blocked the time on my calendar. Now I'm thinking about where I want to spend my time and money, and it isn't at the track. I've scheduled a second visit to Rich Oliver's Mystery School, this time with Peter. None of my previous athletic experience is helping me with dirt bike riding. The best thing I took away from the March weekend at Mystery School is that I will get better if I keep at it, so that's the plan. I keep telling myself that my age, doing something that I'm bad at is good for neural plasticity even if it isn't good for my ego. The biggest difficulty I'm having these days is keeping chiffon scarves away from the velcro closure tabs on my motorcycle jacket. People at work who don't ride have mixed reactions to my showing up to a meeting with leather riding pants, Herman Munster boots (aka Lady Star Daytona platform riding boots for short people) with a grey kevlar motorcycle jacket slung over my shoulder. So I've taken to wearing a knit sweater (doesn't wrinkle) and a decorative scarf so that at least from the conference table up, I look professional. The trick is to remember to put on the pair of pearl earings that live inside the jacket's inside pocket. Yes, I could strip off all my gear, stuff it in the panniers and arrive looking like a non-rider. But where's the fun in that? So, since I don't have anything of substance to say right now, here are some videos for you. The first two are from the television show, Whose Line is it Anyway? I saw this program and laughed so hard my ribs hurt.
